Spring Rich Client Project (RCP)

This space is a work-in-progress area for user documentation and discussion related to the Spring Rich Client project.

Purpose

Spring Rich is a young project, still seeking active community input and involvement. The 0.1.0 release was just recently completed (in March 2006). The space here will provide a forum for the developers and early adopters to flush out the design and user documentation.

Documentation

Getting a Copy and Getting Started

Currently Spring Rich is under active development, with an active user community. A lot of people use it in production applications due to it's power, but currently the API is effectively "alpha" - in other words, the API is subject to change as more people give feedback about what works best "in the real world." So if you want an easy and powerful framework, please grab a copy and join us in the effort to make Spring Rich even better. But if your project can't tollerate API changes, then you may want to wait until it become a Release Candidate.

The Spring Rich project uses Subversion as it's source code repository and Maven 2 for build management.

The project home page is hosted on source forge and that site provides full documentation on how
to get a copy of the sources and setup your development environment.

In order to simplify the process of getting your first Spring Rich Client project started, a maven archetype has been created to do just that. The Getting Started page has documentation on how to use the archetype to create your first project.

The Importance of Samples

The Spring philosophy emphasises the importance of demonstrating features and communicating best practices through published samples. The documentation here will explain by example and clearly link back to the sample rich-client applications in our subversion repository.

Community Contributions

Any open source project benefits the most from the contributions of its member community. Although not all contributions can make it into the core product, they all server to educate the community on the capabilities of the base product and foster an atmosphere of sharing the work derived from the base product. If you have something to share with the community, please post it under one of the following areas:
